You look dumb.

You look dumb.

Yes, you read that right. You look dumb. And frankly, so do I. Some would say you look dumb reading about marriage when there isn’t a man in sight. Others would argue you’re crazy for believing for a supernatural healing. And still others would doubt your sanity when you’re still praying for that one wild child to come to Christ.

You look dumb. But the key word there is LOOK. You may LOOK dumb to everyone around you, but we all know that we cannot go by how it looks. The truth is, you AREN’T dumb. You aren’t dumb for believing in God to do the miraculous. You aren’t dumb for standing on the promise that God spoke in your heart. You are not crazy to believe that situation will change despite years of the same thing happening. We are a peculiar people. We are countercultural. The world would say give up. The world would say get a grip. The world would say you look dumb. And you may. But you’re in good company.

Noah looked dumb building an arc when they had never ever seen rain.

Elijah looked crazy talking about rain and clouds when the sky was empty.

Joseph was bordering on insanity in his brothers’ minds when he told the vision of his dreams.

Daniel relaxing in the lions’ den?

All of the disciples speaking in tongues in the book of Acts?

Let’s not even discuss Ezekiel, Daniel, or Hosea!

Are you seeing it? We will not blend in with this world and if we do, we should seriouslyconsider if we are on the right path. Beloved, do not be afraid to look dumb. The world will have thousands of opinions on things that don’t concern them. Let them.Concern yourself with what the Lord thinks of you. He is well-pleased at your obedience. He delights in your courage. He smiles at your shaky knees as you step out of the boat and onto the water. He’s holding your hand as you pray those wild and bold prayers. He’s dancing with you as you praise Him when things look dire.

You look dumb. But only to those who don’t have the vision God gave you. Keep going. I don’t know how, and I don’t know when, and it might not be in a way we expect or understand, but He will do what He said He would do. Go ahead and look dumb in the eyes of the world. But know that in the eyes of the one who made you, you look radiant.

2 Corinthians 3:11-12 So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever! Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.

with love,

Linds
